Iyad Duwaji
CEO

Mr. Duwaji joined SHUAA Capital in 1988 and became its CEO in 1995. Mr. Duwaji envisioned and led SHUAA's new strategy of becoming an integrated financial services provider (versus an investment company) and focused its activities on the oil producing Gulf Co-operation Council countries (“GCC”) which constitute 80% of open Arab economies.

In 2004, Mr. Duwaji also established SHUAA Partners as a separate company, operating out of DIFC in Dubai, to build on the long and extensive record of SHUAA's private equity arm in GCC and MENA regions. SHUAA Partners manages today $450 million deployed in three separate funds.

Mr. Duwaji has extensive first hand experience in the GCC and regional markets. He has been involved in acquisitions, divestitures and business restructuring throughout the GCC and the wider region over the past 18 years. He is a member of the Arab Business Council and the Young Presidents Organization. He also serves on the Board of Directors of companies and funds in various sectors across the region. Mr. Duwaji holds an M.B.A. degree from the University of Texas at Arlington.
Kerim Mitri
Deputy CEO

Mr. Mitri is the Deputy CEO responsible for the group’s fee businesses including investment banking, asset management, private equity and brokerage. He is also responsible for other core businesses of the group that include research, operations and information technology.

Mr. Mitri joined SHUAA Capital in 1996 as Chief Financial Officer and was instrumental in shaping the exponential growth of SHUAA Capital's business and its subsidiaries. In his capacity as CFO, he was responsible for financial reporting, risk management, operations and settlement, information technology and administration. In 2005, Mr. Mitri became the group’s Chief Operating Officer taking on further responsibilities related to the expansion of the business across several new jurisdictions in the region.

A Chartered Accountant, Mr. Mitri acquired pertinent transactional experience throughout his career examining financial and risk controls and reviewing administrative systems of multinational companies operating in various markets and industries, ranging from financial institutions to conglomerate engineering companies.

Prior to joining SHUAA Capital, he worked for the Business Development Bank of Canada as a Senior Portfolio Manager, reviewing the financial viability and business risks of commercial credit proposals. Mr. Mitri serves on the board of several businesses related to SHUAA Capital and other independent businesses outside the group. He obtained his Graduate Diploma in Public Accounting from McGill University and has a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting from Concordia University.
Omar Jaroudi
Chief Executive Officer – Saudi Arabia

Omar Jaroudi is the Chief Executive Officer of SHUAA Capital Saudi Arabia, a partnership between SHUAA Capital and several prominent Saudi businessmen.

Mr. Jaroudi, a Saudi national, comes with over 23 years of diversified experience in the fields of commercial and investment banking. He started his career in 1984 with the Saudi French Bank initially in commercial banking and later moved to investment banking.

In 1995, he moved on to help setting up Lebanon Invest, an investment bank which was merged in year 2000 with Banque Audi SAL after which Omar joined SHUAA Capital in 2007. During this period, he amassed vast and diversified experience both in the region as well as in Europe in the areas of investment banking, private equity, asset management, local and regional brokerage, and distribution. He also serves on the board of several companies both in Middle East and Europe.

Mr. Jaroudi holds a Masters Degree in Economics from Syracuse University in New York and a Bachelor in Business Administration from the American University of Beirut.

Makram Kubeisy
Managing Director Co-Head - Investment Banking Group 

Mr. Kubeisy has varied transactional experience in Corporate and Project Finance in the Middle East. Prior to joining SHUAA, he was a consultant to the International Finance Corporation (IFC), advising the Government of Lebanon on the privatization of Middle East Airlines, the national flag carrier.

Mr. Kubeisy previously held the position of Vice President of Corporate Finance at Middle East Capital Group, a regional investment bank based in Beirut – Lebanon. Prior to that, he worked for the Arab Banking Corporation in London and the World Bank in Washington DC. Mr. Kubeisy holds an M.E.A. degree in Finance and a B.A. in Civil Engineering, both from George Washington University in Washington D.C.
Salam Saadeh
Managing Director Co-Head - Investment Banking Group

Ms. Saadeh is the Managing Director heading the Capital Markets department at SHUAA Capital, responsible for syndication, distribution and structured products. She has 12 years experience in the Arab capital markets on the primary as well as the secondary side. Prior to joining SHUAA Capital in June 2000, she was a Vice President in the capital markets department at Middle East Capital Group (MECG).

Ms. Saadeh holds an MBA and a B.A. in computer Science from the American University of Beirut
Mohammed Ali Yasin
CEO – SHUAA Securities

Mr. Yasin is a University of London - Queen Mary & Westfield College graduate with a B.Sc in Computer Science. He is a member of the select brokerage committees nominated by the Emirates Securities and Commodities Authority, Abu Dhabi Securities Market and the Dubai Financial Market which help in drafting new laws and regulations and advise on new market developments.

He has lead Emirates Securities, the largest private brokerage firm in the UAE and now a part of SHUAA Securities for 10 years during which he grew the company from AED 1 Million in capital, 8 employees and one office to a phenomenal AED 120 Million in equity, more than 40 employees and five offices. Yasin has grown SHUAA Securities into a leading regional brokerage platform, capitalizing on SHUAA Capital’s network of relations and expansion plans into markets such as Saudi Arabia and throughout the GCC.

A frequent guest on the leading financial programs in local and regional broadcast channels, Yasin has established his expertise to become a highly trusted authority and financial analyst on the local and regional financial markets.

George Shehadeh
Managing Director - Principal Investments 

Mr. Shehadeh joined SHUAA Capital in December 2005 and is responsible for the management of SHUAA’s proprietary investments within the region and globally.  He also represents the company on the board of a number of its direct investments and investment funds. Prior to joining SHUAA, he was co-founder and CEO of Intrinsic Asset Management managing traditional and alternative investment funds since 1999. 

Prior to that, he was a Fund Manager with Merrill Lynch Investment Managers in London where he was a member of a team of eight managers responsible for over $25 billion of institutional funds invested in UK equities.  Mr. Shehadeh started his career in 1991 in London with Coast Investments & Development Company, a Kuwait-based private equity firm covering investments in Europe.

Mr. Shehadeh has a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from University College London.
Gary R. Feulner
General Counsel 

Mr. Feulner's experience includes extensive international transaction work, as well as regulatory, finance, litigation, bankruptcy, employment, tax planning and general corporate law. Mr. Feulner practiced with the firm of Chadbourne & Parke in New York and Washington, D.C. before coming to the Arabian Gulf in 1983. From 1984-1990 he headed the Abu Dhabi office of Chadbourne, Parke & Afridi, where he conducted a general commercial legal practice on behalf of multinational clients and published extensively on the business laws of the UAE. He joined SHUAA Capital in 1991.

Mr. Feulner is a graduate of Princeton University (B.A.), Yale University (M.Phil.) and the University of Virginia (J.D.), a member of the bars of New York and Washington, D.C., and a retired officer in the U.S. Naval Reserve.
Walid Shihabi
Director - Head of Research

Mr. Shihabi joined SHUAA Capital in 2001. He has over nine years experience covering the equity markets of the Middle East. Prior to joining SHUAA Capital, he was head of the research department at the Dubai-based brokerage firm Dubex Securities International, where he established the first research department to cover the UAE equity market in 1998. Before that he held the position of financial analyst in a Kuwait-based private equity fund that invested in infrastructure and oil exploration in the CIS region.

Mr. Shihabi holds a BA degree in Business Administration from the American University in Beirut and is a Chartered Financial Analyst Level 2 examination.
Jim Beck

Director - Human Resources

Mr. Beck joined SHUAA Capital at the beginning of 2006 with a mandate to establish a strategic HR function that supports key business objectives. He graduated from Queen’s University Belfast, with a Bachelors degree in Social Science (Psychology & Sociology). His early career in Human Resource Management within Ford Motor Company Ltd. provided a strong grounding in professional HR processes including recruitment and selection, talent management, learning, organization development and compensation planning. Assignments during this period included, Manager Human Resources Development, Ford of Europe where he was involved in developing and implementing pan European HR initiatives.

Mr. Beck also brings extensive management consulting experience following six years at PricewaterhouseCoopers based out of their London firm. He was a senior member of the Strategic Change and Human Capital Solutions practices and was a lead tutor for Organization Design across Europe. More recently Jim returned to the corporate world with senior HR assignments in Polycom as European HR Director and Abbey National, a major UK bank, as HR Director responsible for Organization Effectiveness.

Samer Hamwi
Chief Information Officer

Mr. Hamwi directs information technology resources and initiatives involving systems engineering, control systems, and business process integration. Mr. Hamwi’s experience covers fifteen years in the US and eleven in the UAE. Prior to joining SHUAA Capital in 1999, Mr. Hamwi held senior IT and engineering posts within such major companies as USPCI subsidiary of Union Pacific Corporation in the US and the Gibca Group in the UAE.

Mr. Hamwi has a Master of Science in Structural Engineering from the University of Texas, and a Master of Business Administration in International Business and Finance from the University of Houston.
Jackie Fitzgerald
Director - Asset Management Sales

Ms Fitzgerald joined Shuaa Capital in August 2006 and became Sales Director of its Asset Management Division in February 2007. Her mandate is to ensure top level diligence and operational efficiency of the division’s Sales and Client Services functions vis-à-vis all regional and International clients.

She brings to SHUAA over 16 years of experience in Investment Sales and Marketing, with organizations such as HSBC, Towry Law International and Abbey National plc.

Ms Fitzgerald has been based in the Middle East since 1998. Before joining SHUAA, she was the Sales Director for Towry Law International in Bahrain. She qualified as a CII FPC Adviser in the UK in 1994.
Amin El-Kholy
Chief Investment Officer - Asset Management

Mr. El-Kholy joined SHUAA Asset Management in April 2007 as Chief Investment Officer. He manages the investment team focussing on regional markets. Prior to joining SHUAA he set up the Asset Management department at the National Bank of Dubai launching and managing the Aafaq Gulf Balanced Fund, the best performing GCC fund in the period under his management.

He started his investment career as part of the Arab Capital Markets team at United Bank of Kuwait in London in 1996 which ran the first pan-Arab equities fund, covering markets from Morocco to Oman. As Senior Fund Manager at PrimeCorp Investment Management in London Mr. El-Kholy played a key role in launching and managing the Arab Gateway Fund in partnership with SHUAA Capital in 1999. He was one of the founders of Parc Technologies Ltd. a network optimisation solutions company which was acquired by CISCO Systems Inc. in 2004. Mr. El-Kholy holds Master of Engineering degree and a PhD from Imperial College, University of London.
Ahmed Bishri
Head - Compliance

Mr. Bishri is responsible for developing, organizing and managing the functions of the corporate compliance department at SHUAA Capital. In particular, his mandate is to support, develop and implement the corporate wide compliance program and promote an environment compliant with UAE and other regulation and standards that SHUAA Capital is subject to, including all policies and procedures.

Mr. Bishri has extensive regulatory & compliance experience working with global regulators such as the Financial Services Authority of the UK (FSA) and the Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA) and prior to joining SHUAA worked within the Rasmala Investments Group in Dubai as Finance and Compliance Manager. He also headed Finance & Corporate Affairs as part of the Vestey Group in the United Kingdom.

Karin Loeffen
Head - Operations

Mrs. Loeffen is the Head of Operations for SHUAA Capital. She has 20 years experience in the field and is responsible for enhancing the level of automation and systems for all business lines. Before joining SHUAA Capital, she built the infrastructure for Bank Oyens & van Eeghen, a Dutch specialist in wealth management solutions, from scratch. Prior to that Mrs. Loeffen was Head of Mid Office of ABN AMRO Asset Management for three years. She has a Higher Education in Economics & Management – Amsterdam.

Oliver Lee
Head - Risk Management

Mr. Lee joined SHUAA Capital in April 2007 from Mitsubishi UFJ Trust International where he headed Risk Management for London and Singapore.  He was responsible for reorganizing their Risk group to meet the new regulatory requirements and greater business demands.  This included enhancing the market and credit risk management structure and implementing a new operational risk framework.

Prior to Mitsubishi he was a Vice President in Risk Management at JP Morgan Chase in London overseeing various groups across EMEA.  An outspoken speaker on risk, he represented the region on global risk initiatives headed out of New York and at industry wide risk committees.  Earlier in his career he qualified as accountant then worked as a senior business analyst.

Mr. Lee graduated from Warwick University in the UK with a BSc(Hons) in Financial Analysis.

Oliver Schutzmann
Head - Investor Relations

Mr. Schutzmann brings international best practice investor relations to SHUAA Capital. His mandate is to provide the investment community with a timely, transparent and accurate picture of SHUAA Capital. In addition, he is responsible for investor relations advisory services, strategic equity marketing and value enhancing solutions for both private and listed companies.

Mr. Schutzmann has over 10 years experience in the disciplines of financial communications consulting and investor relations. His hands-on experience includes accompanying an IPO as member of the management team, launching one of the first small and mid cap funds in Germany and advising senior executives on the strategy and practice of investor relations in Europe, UK, USA and GCC region. Oliver started his career at Euromoney and has held senior positions with The Economist, Charles Barker smartcaps, FassEck & Cie, Smartequity Partners and ASDA’A Public Relations.
